GAYLE VEHAR—LEAD GRAPHIC DESIGNER & LIGHTROOM MENTOR
I think I have been a late bloomer at almost everything. I didn’t discover that I loved photography and design until after I was married and a mom to three girls. I never participated in anything “sporty” at all until my body was WAY past it’s prime. I didn’t clue in that science was my least favorite subject until I had earned a BS in Health Science.
I have always loved learning and teaching myself new things. I taught myself photography 11 years ago. I then taught myself to use Photoshop and Lightroom to edit my photos. Next I taught myself WordPress and some basic coding skills to share my photos on the internet. Once I knew Photoshop well, I found that I loved beautiful design. In the last few years I have taught myself all I can about design and learned InDesign and Illustrator, too.
I love paper and ink. I love the way they smell together in old books and when I write in my thousands of notebooks. It is one of the reasons that I can’t give myself fully to my Kindle. I have a love affair with pretty paper and school supplies. I dislike pencils and have several favorite pens that my children regularly steal.
I am also a study in contrasts. I love technology and new gadgets, but remember things best when I write them down. I am an introvert who has been married to an extrovert for 20 years. I have 3 beautiful teenage girls and one little boy that showed up at the end. Now I am learning a whole new language surrounding Legos, baseball, Minecraft, and Pokemon. All my kids play tennis. I don’t. I have started a class so that I don’t get any more behind.
I pretty much only shop online because I dislike wandering through stores. Amazon and I are pretty tight. My amazing husband is a saint who has put up with my crazy, scattered mind and helped organize my messes longer than most any reasonable person should.
